Overview

We all rely on farmers for our sustenance. However, the ways that new farmers gain knowledge, land, and capital is patchy and unreliable now that fewer farms are being passed from generation to generation.

The Land Connection seeks to fill in these gaps by training farmers, connecting them with farmland, building strong rural communities, and developing food system infrastructure.

The Land Connection works to establish successful farmers  through three programs:

Train of Hay Racks
Farmers and consumers learn about organic grain transition and organic livestock production and marketing from Larry and Marilyn Wettstein of Organic Pastures, near Eureka, IL. Marilyn says, "We truly believe that as stewards of the soil, it is our responsibility to provide the healthiest food possible. It also turns out that this is the tastiest food around. We cannot change the whole world but we are striving to brighten our corner and pass this farm on to our fourth generation."
