This month I had the opportunity to visit Iron Meadows Flower Farm and get the scoop on their second season of growing! Jessica Eisenmann, owner of Iron Meadows, began selling flowers at the Champaign Farmers Market during our COVID season of 2020 and at that time fell in love with the local growing culture. The community welcomed her new business so much so that she decided to step down from full-time nursing into part-time so that she has more time to focus on her business this season. 

She and her husband purchased a home that included an extra acre of land in 2018. They had considered planting wildflowers there but it wasn’t until Jessica, a travel nurse at the time, was inspired by a friend and fellow nurse who ran her own peony farm in Alaska that she came up with the idea to grow and sell her own flowers back home. With the support of her husband, Iron Meadows Flower Farm was born. “Eisenmann is German for Iron Man so my husband and I decided on naming our business Iron Meadows” Jessica told me as she showed me around her farm. 

Next, we went to the flower shed that Jessica was so excited to tell me all about. “In the back, we are building a walk-in cooler for my flower arrangements”. Towards the front, there is a large table and open space to host Bouquet Bars, Ladies Nights, and more.
