The holidays are supposed to be a time of joy and of thankfulness, a time where friends and family come together to spend time with one another, to appreciate it each other. A time of love and goodwill amongst all. Right? Oh, and presents. And wine. The funny thing is that around the holidays, especially around thanksgiving, we have been seeing more and more selfishness, more greed, and more striving for material goods. We see Christmas lists being written, we see massive retail sales, we see people getting trampled for the likes of a flat screen tv. It is just that mindset, the mindset that created Black Friday, and Cyber Monday that inspired the United Nations Foundations to create Giving Tuesday, a national holiday of philanthropy, and of giving back to communities and to the organizations that make the world a better place.
The Land Connection is participating in Giving Tuesday for the second time this year. Taking part in this holiday for us, means reinvigorating the love and spirit of the holiday season. It means infusing goodwill and good cheer into our communities at a time when material goods have begun to take precedent over being a good person. So whether you are giving to The Land Connection or another nonprofit organization that is doing good work in your community, take part in Giving Tuesday, and spread the love this holiday season.
