Starting July 23, The Land Connection and Champaign Farmers Market will offer a limited number of triple match voucher booklets for WIC and Senior FMNP recipients.
Community members that receive farmers market vouchers as part of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program and the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (Senior FMNP) can bring their vouchers to the Champaign Farmers Market and get a triple match of their vouchers. WIC recipients will receive $40 in $5 vouchers and Senior FMNP recipients will receive $50. The vouchers can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the Champaign Farmers Market.
The new program aims to increase the spending power of WIC and Senior FMNP recipients in Champaign County. We are partnering with Champaign-Urbana Public Health District and CRIS Healthy-Aging Center to promote the program. By partnering with these two groups we hope to increase awareness about the presence of the Champaign Farmers Market and the benefits it provides to low-income/low-access community members.
This pilot program is made possible by United Way of Champaign County.
