The Champaign Farmers Market is only a week away from kicking off its 2020 season!
Have you heard about the changes the Market is implementing this year? Here are some things to keep in mind when you come to support our local food producers.
The Market & COVID-19
The Market has adopted a strong safety model due to COVID-19 and we need your help to follow through with it, so remember… wear your mask, send one person per household, and keep a 6 ft distance between yourself and other community members. New Market Location & Time
We have a new location for the month of May! The Market will occupy the Busey Bank parking lot at the corner of NEIL & UNIVERSITY AVE. We are overwhelmed with appreciation for the support we have received from Busey and The City of Champaign who were key players in helping us secure this temporary location! The Market hopes to be back in its normal location in Parking Lot M at Neil & Washington in June.
Starting this season, the Market will now run from 3:00-6:00 p.m. every Tuesday from May 19 to October 27, 2020.
SNAP/LINK Benefit Matching
Opening Day (May 19) at the Market is also DOUBLE MATCH DAY! This means that if you come to the “Market Information & Benefits” Tent at the entrance of the Market and swipe for up to $20, you will receive tokens worth $20 that can be used on all SNAP-eligible items at the Market and an additional $20 in coupons that can be used at the Market for fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as plant seedlings to grow at home.
Coupons and tokens do not have to be used at the Market that day.
Volunteers
Opening day is May 19th and we need all hands on deck! Do you believe in the importance of providing access to fresh and locally grown/prepared foods? Yes?
