Local, handcrafted holiday gifts are available for one more Saturday at the C-U Winter Farmers Market (before taking a well deserved holiday break until January 7th). We are definitely carefully planning our own last minute shopping to take advantage of the 50+ vendors (woah!) one last time until 2023!

With all the hubbub around the holidays, sometimes the best gift for friends and family can be a simple, hearty, and warm meal. Sola Gratia Farm leeks and potatoes pair fabulously together to make Creamy Irish Leek and Potato Soup. We love using crispy fried mushrooms (from Flyway Family Farms) in place of bacon on top! Speaking of enthusiastic food lovers — have you talked to Terrance of Alexander’s Primetime Seasonings ‘n Rubs? His enthusiasm for food is great for getting inspired, both for awesome holiday gifts and your own cooking!
A Celebration of Here
While we are pretty big lovers of all things local, the weather lately hasn’t been doing a lot for inspiring a love of Central Illinois. However, we’re reminded of the beauty of the Midwest through the art of Midwestcapades and Midwest Wilderness Connections. They have just the right reminders that we’ve got something special here! We especially love sending their smaller art prints and post cards to our friends outside the Midwest to share the best of our local area.

Finding unique pop culture gifts for that friend who can quote every line of the latest superhero movie, or knows the perfect team composition to beat any videogame gym leader, can be a pretty tough challenge! Some of our last holiday gifts from the 2022 winter market season are definitely going to be long debated final selections. From amazing pop culture focused booths like Kenton’s Forge, Sane Jungle, and Scrapeyards. We still haven’t decided which of the many, many mesmerizingly beautiful dice sets at Dragon Ink Dice to gift (or purchase for ourselves…) so maybe we aren’t as prepared for the last holiday market as previously thought!
