Success for produce farmers requires good postharvest practices to preserve quality and shelf life, and an understanding of postharvest food safety practices to minimize risks. Led by Atina Diffley, you will learn how to ensure your produce is safe and compliant with FSMA Produce Rule regulations. This workshop will include examples and discussion of cost-effective and scale appropriate postharvest systems and short videos from working farms for group discussion.
In the afternoon, the workshop will travel a few miles to visit PrairiErth Farm‘s wash and pack facility. Run by Hans and Katie Bishop, this farm and its leadership team were named the 2017 MOSES Organic Farmers of the Year.
